Like I said in a previous post about the The 100 by Kass Morgan, the book series is absolutely nothing like the tv series. I guess before the books were fully published, a producer was interested in doing a screen adaptation thus resulting in the show. Unfortunately, the correlation between the two is limited to one fact - 100 juveniles were sent from space to see if the Earth was safe from radiation.
Despite this, if you can get past the fact that the two are so different, the books are pretty interesting. They have a completely different twist and different characters, new story lines and arcs that you aren't expecting. And so far, there's a limit on sexual encounters with the limit of a couple which are glossed over due to it being a young adult book.
