Everyone knows the classic story of Heidi, a young orphan who is sent to live in the Swiss Alps with her disgruntled hermit grandfather. Before this I had seen movie adaptations of the novel, but had never read it. This is a great classic, easy read and a sweet children's story. As always it makes me want to visit the Swiss Alps and smell the sweet air, see the brilliance of the fir trees against a blur sky and feel a baby goat under my fingertips.
